Differential diagnosis. This species is similar to Calcodes cupreiventris (Mollenkamp, 1900) but can be easily distinguished by following characters: 1) Male mandible longer and more curved. 2) Inner teeth on mandible of male, especially middle tooth and subapical tooth, larger and distinctly separated. 3) Head in both sexes wider; ocular canthus strongly protruding lobed, distinctly separate from preocular margin. 4) Postocular margin clearly more convex. 5) Male pronotal lateral margin straighter.

Etymology. This new species is named for its uniquely shaped ocular canthus within the genus. The species epithet is a combination of the Latin noun “lobus” (meaning lobe) and the noun “canthus”, to be used as a noun in apposition.
