Abstract
A new species from southern China, Lagerstroemia yangchunensis B.H.Wu & G.D.Chen, sp. nov., is described in the present paper. This species is morphologically similar to L. duperreana Pierre ex Gagnep., but can be distinguished by its coarse bark with vertical fissures, calyx lobes glabrous inside, and flowers with shorter pseudopedicels and petals with longer claws. Detailed morphological characteristics, habitat information, and comparisons with similar species are provided.

Abstract
Lagerstroemia stenophylla, a new species from southeastern Shaanxi Province and northwestern Hubei Province of China is described. Morphologically, L. stenophylla resembles L. subcostata, but it differs in having 4-angular, subalate branchlets, elliptic-lanceolate, or narrowly elliptic leaves, and relatively larger flowers.

Diagnosis: Lagerstroemia stenophylla is morphologically similar to L. subcostata Koehne, but distinguished by its branchlets 4-angular, sometimes subalate, leaves elliptic-lanceolate, narrowly elliptic, leaf apex acute, leaf base cuneate, flowers 2.5–3 cm in diameter.

Etymology: The epithet of the new species refers to its narrow leaf blade.

Vernacular name: The Chinese name of the new species is here given as 狭叶紫薇 (xiá yè zǐ wēi).

[Botany • 2022] Rotala biglandulosa (Lythraceae) • A New Species of Macrophyte from High-level Ferricretes of the northern Western Ghats, India

Rotala biglandulosa Arun Pr. & Sardesai,

in Prasanth & Sardesai, 2022.

Abstract
A new species, Rotala biglandulosa, is described here from the northern Western Ghats, Maharashtra, India. It is closely similar to R. juniperina but can be distinguished morphologically based on having stamens arising from base of the floral tube, the presence of three bipartite nectary gland, and capsules exceeding the floral tube. A phylogenetic study based on nrITS and psbA–trnH loci also confirmed the status of R. biglandulosa as a distinct species.

Keywords: Lythraceae, New species, Phylogeny, Rotala, Western Ghats

Etymology The specific epithet ‘biglandulosa’ denotes bi-partite floral nectary glands.

Lagerstroemia ruffordii   T. T. Pham & Tagane

in Pham, Tagane, Chhang, et al, 2017.

Abstract
A new species of Lagerstroemia ruffordii T. T. Pham & Tagane (Lythraceae) from Vietnam and Cambodia is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to L. petiolaris in having petioles more than 0.9 cm long, but distinguished mainly by its narrower leaves, larger flowers and distinctly 6-ridged calyx tube. DNA barcodes of the two chloroplast regions of rbcL and matK and one ITS of nuclear ribosomal DNA are also provided.

Keywords: DNA barcoding, Indochina, Lagerstroemia, Lythraceae, new species
