ABSTRACT
Damrongia cyanantha Triboun (Gesneriaceae), a new species from Kamphaeng Phet, Thailand is described. Damrongia is resurrected from synonymy with Chirita.

Damrongia cyanantha Triboun sp. nov.
Damrongiae purpureolineatae in habitu, infl orescentiae figura, foliorum phyllotaxe et stigmatis forma similis sed caulibus longioribus, foliis et infl orescentiis majoribus fl oribusque cyanatris differt. Typus: Thailand, Kamphaeng Phet, Khlong Lan waterfall, on moist granitic rocks in dry evergreen forest, 16 June 2009, Triboun & Yothakaew 4289 (holotype BK, isotypes BKF, E). Fig. 1.

Thailand.— NORTHERN: Kamphaeng Phet: Khlong Lan Waterfall.
Distribution.— Endemic to Thailand, known only from the type locality.

Ecology.— On granitic rock and slopes along a waterfall in dry evergreen forest to mixed deciduous forests at ca 300 m altitude. Flowering: June–July.

[Botany • 2010] 2 new Petrocosmea | ม่วงสอดสี P. bicolor | ม่วงกำมะหยี่ P. pubescens • from Karst Limestone, northern Thailand



ABSTRACT
Two new species of Petrocosmea section Deinanthera are described, P. pubescens D.J.Middleton & Triboun and P. bicolor D.J.Middleton & Triboun.

A Petrocosmea grandifolia et Petrocosmea heterophylla corollis bicoloribus et bulbillis in multis foliis adsunt distincta. Typus: Thailand, Chiang Mai, Fang District, Doi Ang Khang, vertical limestone cliff face in montane forest, 21 Sept. 2008, Middleton, Karaket, Triboun, Kawatkull & Meeboonya 4543 (holotype BKF; isotypes A, BK, E). Figs. 1, 3A–C.

Distribution.— Only known from Doi Ang Khang in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Ecology.— In montane moist seasonal forest on karst shady limestone at ca 1,450 m in altitude. Flowering and fruiting periods unknown.

Notes.— This is the only species in Petrocosmea sect. Deinanthera with a strongly bicolourous corolla with the upper lip much paler than the lower. It is otherwise rather similar to Petrocosmea heterophylla and P. grandifolia, both of which have larger white fl owers. We have also not found any evidence that bulbils have previously been recorded in the genus.

Distribution.— Only known from Doi Tung in Chiang Rai, Thailand.
Ecology.— In montane deciduous forest on karst limestone at 1350–1400 m in altitude.
Flowering and fruiting periods unknown.

Notes.— This is perhaps the most distinctive species of Petrocosmea sect. Deinanthera due to the peltate leaves and deep purple corollas. No other species in Petrocosmea sect. Deinanthera have peltate leaves and only Petrocosmea bicolor has such deep purple corollas, albeit not uniformly in that species.

ABSTRACT
A new species of Gesneriaceae, Petrocosmea huanjiangensis Yan Liu & W. B. Xu, is described and illustrated from northern Guangxi, China. The new species is related to P. martini (H. Le´v.) H. Le´v. but is distinguished on the basis of the peltate leaf blade, the densely lanate androecial filaments 6–7.2 mm long, the rostellate, cordateovoid anthers that are constricted near the apex, and the three staminodes, 2–3 mm long.

A new species of Gesneriaceae, Paraboea trisepala W.H.Chen & Y.M.Shui, from a karst cave in Guangxi, China is described and illustrated. The new species differs from other species of Paraboea by its three-lobed calyx. Variation in flower and inflorescence architecture was observed under cultivation.

ABSTRACT
The forests on limestone in southern Yunnan, in tropical southwest China, were inventoried, and their floristic composition and biogeographical affinities are discussed. These limestone forests were characterized by phanerophytes making up ca. 78% of the total species and those with mesophyllous leaves comprising 75%. Ecological species groups based on their habitat preferences were discerned from field observations: the species exclusive to the limestone habitats make up 10% and the preferents make up ca. 12% of the total limestone flora. From these limestone forests, 1394 vascular plant species belonging to 640 genera and 153 families were recorded. Based on their distributions, 12 biogeographic elements at the generic level and nine at the specific level were recognized. About 90% of the seed plant genera (over 90% of the species) were tropical; furthermore, 35% of the seed plant genera (65% of the species) have tropical Asian affinities. In a comparison with other regional floras from southern China and tropical Asia, the limestone flora of southern Yunnan revealed closer affinity to tropical floras than to temperate elements of eastern Asian floras. This limestone flora is thus tropical and part of the tropical Asian flora at its northern margin.

[Insect • 2010] Himalusa thailandensis • New species & the first record of the genus Himalusa for Thailand





Abstract
A new aleocharine species, Himalusa thailandensis Pace, Klimaszewski & Center sp. n., found feeding on sewer vine, Paederia pilifera Hook. f., in Thailand, is described and illustrated. This is the first record of the genus Himalusa for Thailand. Himalusa was previously known from the Himalayan region in Nepal where it was originally described. New data on bionomics and distribution are provided, including a discussion on the potential use of this species in the biological control of weeds in the United States. A short diagnosis, description, colour habitus images of adult and larva, and black and white genital images are provided. A key to the world species of Himalusa is also given. A new tribe Himalusini Klimaszewski, Pace & Center, is erected to accommodate Himalusa species.

Etymology. The specific name is a feminine adjective derived from the country name Thailand, where the type series was found.

Abstract
Aphelopus mangshanensis n. sp., from Mount Mangshan (Hunan Province, P. R. China), is described. The new taxon is different from all other Oriental species of Aphelopus Dalman, because of the tridentate distal apex of the aedeagus.

Abstract
Two remarkable new cantharid species were described, Prothemus laticornis sp. n. (CHINA: Yunnan) and Prothemus lycoceroides sp. n. (THAILAND: Chiang Dao), and provided with illustrations of aedeagi, ultimate abdominal sternites and antennae of both sexes. Their systematic status was discussed, because they differed from all other species of Prothemus in the dilated and/or serrate antennae and elytra with distinct longitudinal costae and longer pubescence.Keywords: Coleoptera, Cantharidae, Prothemus, new species, China, Thailand

Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Diagnosis. This new species can be easily distinguished from all others of Prothemus by the serrate antennae and elytra with distinct longitudinal costae and longer pubescence.
Etymology. This new specific name is derived from Latin words latus (wide) and cornu (antenna), referring to its dilated antennae.


Prothemus lycoceroides Kazantsev sp. n.

Type material.Holotype male, THAILAND, Chiang Dao, 1000m, 19°25'N, 98°52'E, 17–24.v.1991, leg. V. Kubáň (ICCM). Paratypes, two males and one female, same data as holotype (ICCM).
Distribution.Thailand (Chiang Dao).
Etymology. The name of the new species is modified from Lycocerus, alluding to its similarity to the members of some Lycocerus species.

Abstract
The uncommon Asian braconine wasp genus Ischnobracon Baltazar is revised. Eleven species are recognized of which six are described as new, namely I. albitarsus Butcher and Quicke from mainland Malaysia, I. baltazarae Butcher and Quicke from the Philippines, I. hannongbuai Butcher and Quicke from Thailand, Laos, Myanmar and Indonesia (Sulawesi), I. morleyi Butcher and Quicke from Sri Lanka, I. feliciae Butcher and Quicke from Thailand, I. xanthoflagellaris Butcher and Quicke from Thailand, Laos and Vietnam. Ischnobracon rhyssides (Enderlein) is a new junior subjective synonym of I. laboriosus (Smith).

ABSTRACT
Four new species of Olidiana McKamey in the tribe Coelidiini are described from Thailand. They are spimera, anisota, nuda and paridens. A checklist of the known species from Thailand is also included. Olidiana spina (Zhang) is a new synonym of Olidiana praetexta (Distant).

Exochomoscirtes chiangmaiensis n. sp. from Thailand is described and figured. Additional data on a female specimen from Taiwan, probably belonging to a related species is presented.

Abstract
Descriptions of four new species of the genus Philanthaxia Deyrolle, 1864: P. pseudoaenea sp. n. (Thailand), P. jakli sp. n. (Indonesia, Sumatra), P. chalcogenioides sp. n. (Indonesia, Sabah) and P. lombokana sp. n. (Indonesia, Lombok) are given. The new species and male genitalia are illustrated and compared with the most similar congeners. Sexual dimorphism of P. iris Obenberger, 1938 is described and discussed.
