Abstract
 Two new species, Apsidophora bala sp. nov. and Apsidophora chandrapatyae sp. nov., are described. Illustrations of adult and genitalia are provided. We also present a photograph of living specimen of A. chandrapatyae sp. nov. in natural resting posture. The two new taxa increase the number of described Apsidophora species to 3.

[Entomology • 2025] Dicnecidia narathiwatensis • A New Species of Dicnecidia Diakonoff, 1982 (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae: Olethreutinae) from Thailand

Abstract
Dicnecidia narathiwatensis Thonongtor and Pinkaew sp. nov. is described based on a single male specimen from Narathiwat Province, southernmost Thailand. In addition, D. fumidana Kuznetzov, 1997, previously recorded only from Vietnam, is recorded for the first time from Thailand and Laos. Illustrations of adults and genitalia are provided. The discovery of the new species increases the total number of described Dicnecidia to four.

Abstract
Debaratania gen. nov. is described from Thailand, with Debaratania bellula sp. nov. designated as the type species. The new genus is characterized by its colorful forewing pattern, sexual dimorphism in the shape of both the fore- and the hindwing, and distinctive male hindwing venation, where M3 and CuA1 are short-stalked both proximally and distally, with three distinct anal veins. The male genitalia feature a prominent leaf-like uncus and a large tubular phallus with long, narrow cornuti. In the female genitalia, a conspicuous sclerotized plate with a strongly developed thorn-like process is present at the anterior end of ductus bursae. Living and pinned specimens, wing venation, and genitalia are illustrated. Structural features support placement in the tribe Enarmoniini.

[Entomology • 2024] Aspila pibooni • A peculiar New Species of Aspila (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae: Olethreutinae: Grapholitini) from Thailand

Abstract
Aspila pibooni sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Thailand. The species is provisionally assigned to Aspila on the basis of morphological features of the male and female genitalia. Superficially, the new species resembles three Afrotropical species of Cydia (Grapholitini), all of which lack the distinctive coremata and a pair of short projections from the eight sternite that characterize the Grapholita group of genera to which Aspila belongs.

Abstract
A new species of the Asian lanternfly genus Saiva Distant, 1906, Saiva constanti Jiaranaisakul sp. nov., is described from Thailand with illustrations and distribution map. Saiva virescens (Westwood, 1842) is proposed as a senior synonym of Saiva phesamensis Ollenbach, 1928 syn. nov. and Fulgora pyrrhochlora Butler, 1874 syn. nov. is now considered as junior synonym of Pyrops cultellatus (Walker, 1857).

[Entomology • 2021] Arria muscoamicta • First Record of the Genus Arria (Mantodea: Haaniidae: Arriini) from Thailand, with the Description of A New Species of Moss-dwelling Praying Mantis

Abstract
Arria muscoamicta Unnahachote & Shcherbakov, sp. nov. is described based on a male from central Thailand. This is the first record of Arria Stål, 1877 from the country. The new species is closely allied to A. leigongshanensis (Ge & Shen, 2008) from China, differing by the absence of prozonal tubercles, the elongated pronotum, nine tibial anteroventral spines, and the truncated hindwings. The new species is a moss-camouflaging mantis living at high altitude. The taxonomic problems of the genus are briefly discussed.

Differential diagnosis: 
A. muscoamicta sp. nov. is similar to the type species of Arria, A. cinctipes, in foreleg armament and shape of the prothorax and wings; it fits the current concept of the genus Arria (but see Discussion).
Arria muscoamicta sp. nov. can be distinguished from the most similar species, A. leigongshanensis, by the following characters: 1) pronotum distinctly longer; MzL/PzL = 1.97 [vs MzL/PzL = 1.24], 2) prozone without distinct pair of conical spines posteriorly [vs with distinct pair of conical spines posteriorly, anteriad of supracoxal sulcus], 3) foretibia have nine anteroventral spines [vs 11–13 anteroventral spines], 4) apical lobe of hindwing almost truncated [vs more or less parabolic].
Arria muscoamicta sp. nov. can also be easily distinguished from A. cinctipes by the following characters: 1) six tibial posteroventral spines [vs seven tibial posteroventral spines], 2) lack of a pair of small conical tubercles in prozone posteriorly [presence of a pair of small conical tubercles in prozone posteriorly]; from A. meghalayensis by six tibial posteroventral spines [vs seven tibial posteroventral spines]; from A. oreophilus by following characters: 1) present of conical tubercles on dorsal surface of pronotum [vs lack of conical tubercles, relatively smooth in male], 2) forewing not narrows distally [vs forewing narrows distally]; from A. sticta and A. pallida by the apex of hindwing more or less truncate [vs pointed apex].

Etymology: The name of the species means “clothed by moss” in Latin and refers to the moss-like colouration and morphology of the adults and especially the nymphs.

The genus Ukamenia Oku, 1981 is recorded the first time for Thailand and a new species, Ukamenia thailandica n. sp., is described. Photograph of living specimens of U. thailandica n. sp. in natural resting posture is present. The one new taxon increases the number of described Ukamenia species to 4.

 Diagnosis. This species is most similar to Ukamenia sapporensis (Matsumura, 1931) but male genitalia of U. thailandica n. sp. differs by a pair of subelliptical pouch on abdominal sternum III (subcircular in U. sapporensis), sacculus projecting lobe shorter than mid length of valva (longer than mid length of valva in U. sapporensis), and subcone-shaped phallus (subcylindrical in U. sapporensis).

[Entomology • 2019] Revision of the Genus Cimeliomorpha Diakonoff (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae)

Abstract
The enarmoniine genus Cimeliomorpha Diakonoff, 1966 is reviewed. Seven species are treated, and a key to the species is provided. Three named species, C. cymbalora (Meyrick), C. novarana (Felder & Rogenhofer), and C. egregiana (Felder & Rogenhofer), are redescribed, with the identity of C. novarana finally settled. Three new speciesCimeliomorpha jarujini, sp. n.; C. inflata, sp. n.; and C. perspinosa, sp. n., are described. Cimeliomorpha nabokovi Kuznetsov is included based on the original description. Illustrations of adults and genitalia of all species are provided, and the original hand-coloured images of C. egregiana and C. novarana are reproduced from a copy of the relevant book with unusually well-preserved plates.

Type species: Copromorpha cymbalora Meyrick, 1907, by original designation. 

Diagnosis. Cimeliomorpha has an unmistakable two-toned forewing pattern with a uniformly yellow or white basal half and a distal half with complex mostly black pattern on red-brown ground with raised silvery lines and spots, and a hindwing that is either white or orange at the base, with a narrow to wide blackish band around its margin. Anthozela Meyrick and some Loboschiza species also have a conspicuously two-toned forewing, but in the former the basal half is yellow and either speckled with black or suffused with orange, and in the latter the hindwing is not white or yellowish in its basal half. The genitalia of both sexes of Cimeliomorpha also indicate a close relationship with Loboschiza, but not with Anthozela. The wing venation with widely separated Rs and M1 and parallel M2 and M3 in the hindwing (Fig. 3) is most similar to that of Irianassa Meyrick, but this is due rather to symplesiomorphy than to a close relationship as evidenced by the very different genitalia in both sexes.

The cymbalora-group. Forewing length 5.8−7.2 mm. Frons, vertex, labial palpus, pronotal collar, tegulae and mesonotum white. Forewing with basal 2/5 white; hindwing with basal half white; male genitalia with membrane next to juxta without setae, cucullus tip pointed and ending in short strong spine; female genitalia with one small signum, a granulate sclerite. 

The egregiana-group. Forewing length 7.2−9.9 mm. Frons, vertex, labial palpus, pronotal collar, tegulae and mesonotum yellow. Forewing with basal 2/5 yellow; hindwing with basal part orange or at least with large orange patch in centre; male genitalia with membrane next to juxta with numerous short setae, cucullus distally rounded and not ending in a single long spine (C. jarujini with one strong spine centrally); female genitalia with two horn-shaped signa.

Distribution. India, Thailand (new record). Specimens from Thailand were collected from evergreen forest.

Cimeliomorpha egregiana (Felder & Rogenhofer, 1875) 

Distribution. Ambon Island (Maluku Islands), Indonesia. 


Cimeliomorpha jarujini, sp. n.

Diagnosis. This species differs from members of the cymbalora group by the yellowish basal 2/5 of the forewing and a mostly orange hindwing. It is similar to all other species of the egregiana group in forewing pattern, but in the hindwing the short crescent-shaped blackish band is diagnostic: it reaches neither the base of the costa nor the anal angle, or at most only as some scattered scales, unlike all other species of the egregiana group. The valva of C. jarujini is most similar to that of C. perspinosa, but the cucullus of the former is less densely setose and has a central single large spine.


Etymology. This species is named after the late Jarujin Nabhitabhata, the first director of The Thailand Natural History Museum. 

Distribution. Southern Thailand (Nakhon Si Thammarat). Specimens were collected from evergreen forest. 



Cimeliomorpha perspinosa, sp. n. 

Diagnosis. This species differs from members of the cymbalora group by the yellow basal 2/5 of the forewing and a mostly orange hindwing. It is similar to the other species of the egregiana group in forewing pattern. The hindwing above is similar to that of C. egregiana with the black band reaching to the anal angle but not beyond, while in C. jarujini it ends before the anal angle, and in C. perspinosa it extends also along the anal margin. A diagnostic difference on the ventral side of the hindwing separates C. perspinosa with the subelliptical patch on costa medially from C. egregiana with a longitudinal blackish patch on costa. The valva of C. perspinosa is most similar to that of C. jarujini, but the cucullus of C. perspinosa has a dense tuft of equally large spines, whereas C. jarujini has a single, much larger spine.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the cluster of bristles on the cucullus. 

Distribution. New Guinea: West Papua (Indonesia) and New Britain (Papua New Guinea).


 Cimeliomorpha inflata, sp. n.

Diagnosis. This species differs from members of the cymbalora group by the yellow basal 2/5 of the forewing and the partially orange hindwing. From other species in the egregiana group it differs by the very distinct but short, black, longitudinal fine striation in the ocelloid patch, and by the orange scales in the hindwing restricted to a bipartite median patch. The valva of C. inflata is unique, with a large and swollen cucullus, and the female genitalia are diagnostic with two elliptical patches of scale sockets on the membranous lamella postvaginalis and a very long colliculum.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the swollen appearance of the cucullus (inflata=swollen). 

Distribution. Papua New Guinea (St. Matthias Island near New Britain, and Woodlark, Goodenough and Bougainville islands) and Solomon Islands (Guadalcanal and The Nggela Islands).

[Entomology • 2019] Theorica valuliae • the First Record of the Genus (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae: Olethreutinae) in Thailand

Abstract
The genus Theorica Diakonoff, 1966 includes two previously described species that occur in Vietnam (i.e., T. secunda Kuznetsov, 1997) and New Guinea (i.e., T. lamyra (Meyrick, 1911)). We report the first occurrence of this genus in Thailand, represented by a new speciesTheorica valuliae Pinkaew, n. sp. In addition to illustrations of the adult and genitalia, we also present photographs of living specimens in their natural resting posture.

Theorica valuliae Pinkaew, n. sp.  

Diagnosis. The male of this species is most similar to that of Theorica secunda Kuznetsov in having a modified hindwing with a tube-like anal lobe separated from the anal margin at the base of the wing. The two species differ in the ground color of the forewing: grayish brown in T. secunda and pinkish red in T. valuliae. The male genitalia of T. valuliae are most similar to those of T. lamyra (Meyrick, 1911), but the socii are covered with twisted setae in T. valuliae and straight setae in T. lamyra. The female genitalia of the new species is distinct from other species by having a very short ductus bursae with the corpus bursae reaching only slightly beyond the anterior margin of sternum VII. Moreover, the moth in resting posture has a distinct heart-shape and a dark brown V-shaped mark crossing both wings (Fig. 2).

Etymology. The specific epithet is a patronym dedicated to the late Associate Professor Valuli Rojanavongse, who served as the Master's degree advisor for the first author. 

Distribution. Thailand. Specimens were collected in both natural forest (evergreen and dry evergreen forest) and reforest areas.

Abstract
Kasetsartra, gen. nov., is described from Thailand based on the type species, Kasetsartra fasciaura, sp. nov. Kasetsartra is characterized by a unique wing pattern, a conspicuous uncus in the male genitalia, and a dorsally expanded corpus bursae in the female genitalia. Adults, wing venation, and genitalia are illustrated, and their structure suggests a position in the tribe Enarmoniini.

Kasetsartra Pinkaew, gen. nov. 
Type species: Kasetsartra fasciaura, sp. nov. 

Diagnosis: The new genus is characterized in the forewing by a deep notch below the strongly projecting apex; in forewing venation by three distinct transverse fascia of slightly raised, metallic golden scales; and by the very unusual course of the M−stem to between M1 and M2, R3 closely approximated basally and parallel to the stalk of R4 and R5, and CuA1 from below the angle of the distally narrowed discal cell. Diagnostic characters in the male genitalia are the absence of a costal process; a divided uncus with two long, widely separate ovate lobes with a sclerotized hook on outer corner; small projecting socii; an ovate cucullus with a deep semicircular depression beyond the spiniform seta on the mediobasal area of the cucullus; and ventral margin of cucullus with a row of five curved spiniform setae. The female genitalia are characterized by the sterigma in a deep excavation of sternum VII, with two parallel longitudinal spinulose ridges; the absence of a colliculum; a dorsally expanded posterior part of corpus bursae; and two unequal, triangular to thorn-shaped signa, one very small.

Kasetsartra fasciaura, sp. nov.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the golden (= auratransverse band (= fascia) of the forewing. 

Distribution: The species is known only from central Thailand, collected in dry dipterocarp forest of the Khao Yai National Park, with Dipterocarpus obtusifolius as the dominant tree.

"สกุลผีเสื้อกลางคืนเกษตรศาสตร์ (genus Kasetsartra)" เป็นผีเสื้อกลางคืนสกุลใหม่ของโลก ได้รับการตีพิมพ์เผยแพร่ในวารสาร ZOOTAXA 4532(1): 95-103 ในวันที่ 17 ธันวาคม 2561 โดยตั้งชื่อสกุลเพื่อให้เกียรติกับมหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ ผีเสื้อสกุลใหม่ของโลกนี้มีการแพร่กระจายเฉพาะในป่าเต็งรังของอุทยานแห่งชาติเขาใหญ่ ซึ่งเป็นผลจากการวิจัยของ รศ.ดร.นันทศักดิ์ ปิ่นแก้ว ในโครงการศึกษาความหลากหลายของผีเสื้อหนอนม้วนใบในอุทยานแห่งชาติเขาใหญ่ในปี พ.ศ. 2553 โดยตัวอย่างต้นแบบ (Holotype) ได้เก็บรักษาไว้ที่ห้องพิพิธภัณฑ์แมลงสุธรรม อารีกุล ภาควิชากีฏวิทยา คณะเกษตร กำแพงแสน มหาวิทยาลัยเกษตรศาสตร์ วิทยาเขตกำแพงแสน จังหวัดนครปฐม

   


ผีเสื้อสกุลใหม่นี้เป็นผีเสื้อกลางคืนขนาดเล็ก จัดอยู่ในวงศ์ผีเสื้อหนอนม้วนใบ (Family Tortricidae) วงศ์ย่อย Olethreutinae เผ่า Enarmoniini ปีกแผ่กว้างเพียง 1.3 - 1.5 เซนติเมตร ปีกคู่หน้ามีพื้นปีกสีเหลืองปนน้ำตาลอ่อน และมีแถบสีเหลืองทองสะท้อนแสงพาดตามขวางปีกจำนวน 3 แถบ ขอบปีกด้านบนมีขีดเล็กๆ สีน้ำตาลอ่อนจำนวนมากเรียงกันเป็นระเบียบ ปีกคู่หลังมีสีขาว บริเวณมุมปลายปีกเป็นสีเหลืองอ่อน เพศผู้และเพศเมียมีลักษณะคล้ายคลึงกันมาก จะแตกต่างกันที่ลักษณะของอวัยวะสืบพันธุ์ ในงานวิจัยนี้ยังมีการรายงานผีเสื้อชนิดใหม่ของโลกในสกุล Kasetsartra จำนวน 1 ชนิด คือ Kasetsartra fasciaura โดยเฉพาะชื่อชนิด fasciaura นั้นมาจากรากศัพท์ภาษาละติน 2 คำคือ fascia แปลว่า "แถบ" และ aura แปลว่า "สีทอง" ซึ่งเป็นลักษณะเด่นของแถบสีทองสะท้อนแสงที่ปรากฏในปีกคู่หน้าจำนวน 3 แถบนั่นเอง
