Abstract
Hedyotis shoolamudianus, a new species of Rubiaceae is described here. The paper provides distribution, phenology and colour photographs of the new species along with comparison chart of its allied taxa.

Etymology:—The specific epithet is named after the type locality, Shoolamudi hills, which is the highest peak in Ernakulam district, Kerala.
