[Ichthyology • 2004] Hemiancistrus megalopteryx • a new species of loricariid catfish (Siluriformes: Loricariidae) from the rio Tubaro drainage, Santa Catarina State, Brazil



Hemiancistrus megalopteryx, new species, is described from the rio Tubarão drainage, Santa Catarina State, Brazil. It is distinguished from its congeners by meristic and morphometric data, by the presence of numerous fleshy oval flaps and small papillae along the border of the lower lip, and by a long pectoral fin. These two characters are putative autapomorphies for the new species
