| Parachiloglanis gurungi Thoni & Gurung, 2026 |
Abstract
A new species of Parachiloglanis is described, based on specimens collected from the Kalikhola stream, a tributary of the Jaldhaka River, Samtse Dzongkhag, Bhutan. Parachiloglanis gurungi, new species, differs from its congeners in having a white bar on anterior flanks on dorsum of the body, white spot at the upper caudal-peduncle base, short and deep caudal peduncle, long predorsum, and differences in vomerine toothplate shape. Phylogenetic analysis of the cytochrome oxidase subunit B (cytb) gene sequences reveal lineage independence, corroborating its distinct status and establishing it as a sibling species to Parachiloglanis hodgarti.
