[A-B] Agaricus aurantifibrillosus; [C-D] A. fafuinus; [E-F] A. shenzhenensis P.H. Liu & S.E. Wang, in Wang, Chen, Huang, Lin et Liu, 2025. |
Abstract
The genus Agaricus is the most species-rich genus within the Agaricaceae, comprising more than 500 species globally. Here, we describe three new species of Agaricus based on morphological and multi-locus (ITS + nrLSU + tef1-α) phylogenetic analyses: Agaricus aurantifibrillosus, A. fafuinus and A. shenzhenensis. Agaricus aurantifibrillosus and A. fafuinus were collected at Fujian province, while A. shenzhenensis was discovered in Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province. The morphological descriptions of each new species are accompanied by basidiomata photographs, and illustrations of microscopic structures.
Key words: Agaricus, morphology, multi-locus phylogeny, new species, taxonomy
Agaricus aurantifibrillosus P.H. Liu & S.E. Wang, sp. nov.
Etymology. aurantifibrillosus (Latin), referring to the pileus covered with arranged orange (5A8) or brownish yellow (5C8) fibrillose squamules.
Agaricus fafuinus P.H. Liu & S.E. Wang, sp. nov.
Etymology. Derived from the acronym FAFU (Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University), where the type specimens of this species were collected.
