Abstract
Uvaria sanyaensis F.W. Xing sp. nov. (Annonaceae) is described and illustrated from Sanya, Hainan, China. It is similar to Uvaria boniana in not having any stellate hairs except on the flowers, but differs from it by its flowers being maroon red, fruits ovate, ca 8 mm wide, bright red when ripe, leaves coriaceous, ovate or narrowly elliptic, with unclear ring knot curved pinnate veins, and by shorter pedicels which are ca 1.5 cm and monocarp stipes ca 8.2 mm long.
