Abstract
Artabotrys chitkokoi K.Z.Hein, Naive & J.Chen from Sagaing Region, Myanmar, is described and illustrated as a species new to science. Description, colour plates, discussion of similar taxa, phenology, distribution and a preliminary conservation status assessment are provided. With this discovery, Myanmar now holds a total of eight Artabotrys species and a key to these species is provided.

Artabotrys chitkokoi K.Z.Hein, Naive & J.Chen sp. nov.
A species similar to Artabotrys pleurocarpus Maingay ex Hook.f. & Thomson and A. brevipes Craib, but differing in having a slightly oblique leaf base (versus cuneate in A. pleurocarpus and cuneate or decurrent on petiole in A. brevipes), broadly ovate outer petal blades (versus oblong‐elliptic in A. pleurocarpus and elliptic to obovate in A. brevipes), oblanceolate inner petal blades (versus oblong‐elliptic in A. pleurocarpus and elliptic to obovate in A. brevipes) and monocarp stipes 3–4 mm long (versus 7–10 mm long in A. pleurocarpus and ca 1 mm long in A. brevipes).
Etymology: The specific epithet ‘chitkokoi' was coined in honour of Mr Chit Ko Ko, a Myanmar botanist noted for his botanical research in Myanmar. He has contributed to the third edition of the seminal book ‘List of Trees, Shrubs, Herbs and Principal Climbers, etc. Recorded from Burma', which lists nearly 7000 angiosperm species in Myanmar (Hundley and Chit Ko Ko 1961), a significant accretion from the 2927 and 2483 species recorded in the second (Rodger 1922) and first (Lace 1912) edition, respectively.
